Merz b. Schwanen 1911

Merz b. Schwanen 1911
I remember clearly buying my first ever Merz b. Schwanen long sleeve. It was around 2005!!! (makes me feel old) and at that time a brand new shop called "Son of a Stag" had opened in London. It was beautifully wedged between Rough Trade Records and a Rapha sample sale pop up down in Brick Lane - shopping heaven really. The shirt was a beautifully simple off-white, spun from the finest yarn, sewn magically simple but different and in a special way under the arms for a perfectly comfortable fit and I was in LOVE!! It wasn't cheap but it was well worth the price and guess what (as with all things good quality) I have it AND wear it till this day. The fabric covered buttons have slightly frayed but it's still all that I have described above. I have since added many Merz b. Schwanen basics to my wardrobe, some more elaborate than others, all beautifully simple and well made. Often from visits to Manufactum or one-off specials from Gasoline Alley - they have been my go to shops for dipping into their world.
Merz b. Schwanen started in 1911 and we are not only connected by this founding date (Sagitta is from 1911 too) our principles are very similar, we are also a family run business with a long history and lots of passion, with a strong focus on quality and sustainability. They have been producing their clothing on these amazing loop wheelers still in Germany.
If you are looking for the perfect basic, look no further, and if you want to find out more they have a new documentary out on Arte, find it all on their lovelysite. (You can read about Sagitta there too)
I am off to do some Christmas shopping (guess where) and you are in for a wonderful treat as we are giving away a Merz b. Schwanen t-shirt with two of our probiotic deodorants. For a chance to win simply enter the giveaway over on our Instagrams. Good luck!!
