Promote a healthy lifestyle
The Power of the Microbiome
As a midwife, you are familiar with the countless wonders of the human body. You know how important it is to take health into your own hands and act preventively. And you are also aware of the important role the microbiome plays in the health of mother and child. Dive into the world of the microbiome with us and discover how you as a midwife can optimally support the microbiome to promote the health of your little ones and their mothers.
The microbiome
A world full of tiny creatures
In our body and on our skin, an incredible number of tiny organisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi live. All together, they are referred to as the microbiome. The microbiome begins to develop at birth when the baby comes into contact with the first microorganisms. How the microbiome continues to develop depends on diet, environment, and lifestyle.
Most of these tiny organisms live in our gastrointestinal tract. In the past, they were called gut flora because it was thought they were plants. Today, we know that they are part of the microbiome.
Strengthen microbiome
When the microbiome is in balance, pregnant women and new mothers feel good not only physically but also emotionally.
To strengthen the microbiome, good bacteria can be supplied through dietary supplements. Additionally, there is also a probiotic deodorant that contains good bacteria. It protects against sweat odor in a completely natural way, as it supports an intact skin barrier and can thus prevent sweating. This provides maximum safety for mom and baby.
Odor-proof
Especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding, women want to use healthy products and therefore opt for aluminum-free deodorants. However, many of these deodorants are already ineffective by noon, leading to sweating and unpleasant odors. Here we recommend the Sagitta Probiotic Deodorant. Its good bacteria help the delicate underarm skin return to its biological balance. The result is odor-free and dry underarms - all without aluminum, alcohol, preservatives, and essential oils.
The deodorant contains seven healthy ingredients and is completely odorless. This way, the baby is not exposed to any fragrance substances and can focus entirely on the scent of the mother.
Our tip: In case a young mom is stressed with the baby and has no time to shower, she can simply apply the deodorant as is. Even then, the bacteria do their job, and she is safe from sweat odor.

The role of the gut microbiome
The gut microbiome helps our body digest food, absorb nutrients, and produce important vitamins such as B12 and K. It also supports our immune system by protecting us from diseases and even influencing our mood and behavior.
Targeted strengthening of the gut microbiome
Highly recommended
Lactobacillus fermentum is one of the important bacteria found in breast milk and plays a crucial role in establishing the microbiome of newborns. It is considered one of the "good" bacteria, with many studies confirming its safety and lack of adverse effects. Therefore, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has classified both Lactobacillus fermentum and Lactobacillus reuteri as safe.
Healthy development of the gut microbiome
If a mother is unable to breastfeed, for whatever reason, she can use Lactobacillus fermentum as part of a balanced diet to help build a healthy microbiome for her baby.
Double benefit
When a mother breastfeeds, babies benefit even more from Lactobacillus fermentum, especially if the mother takes a probiotic with Lactobacillus fermentum during pregnancy, such as Sagitta Pur Family 4+ and Sagitta Pur Family Probiotic. A study from 2019 has shown that regular intake of Lactobacillus fermentum by the mother during pregnancy can positively influence the baby's microbiome and health.
