No titanium white
Since August 1, 2022, titanium dioxide, also known as titanium white, has been banned in food. The European Food Safety Authority considers titanium white as a food additive no longer safe, as scientists cannot rule out that titanium dioxide ingested through food may be genotoxic. This means that genetic material can be damaged, possibly leading to cancer.
Although only very little titanium dioxide enters the body through the gastrointestinal tract, it is slowly excreted and may accumulate in tissues.
According to current knowledge, titanium white is not absorbed through the skin, so its use in skincare products such as soaps and creams is safe.
However, at Sagitta, we prefer to err on the side of caution and have already removed titanium white as an additive in the Sagitta Prebiotic Body Soap. Therefore, these soaps will have a slightly yellowish color in the future.
